United States Ambassador Stephen Beecroft (pictured) inaugurated the U.S. Pavilion at the 39th Baghdad International Fair.
The U.S. Pavilion houses booths for over 35 organizations, including 24 companies, seven universities, and three U.S. government agencies. The Pavilion features bilingual staff to welcome visitors and connect them with appropriate companies or universities, as well as meeting space for the U.S. exhibitors.
?Many U.S. companies have recognized Iraq?s market potential and have established a strong presence here in Iraq,? said Ambassador Beecroft in his remarks at the ceremony to open the Pavilion. ?The goods and services provided by U.S. suppliers are helping Iraq rebuild its infrastructure and industrial capacity, and helping create more prosperity for the Iraqi people. American companies can bring world-class technology, management systems, business practices, and corporate social responsibility activities to Iraq. I am proud of the contributions they have made, and will continue to make, to the development of Iraq.?
Ambassador Beecroft also highlighted the growing U.S.-Iraq commercial relationship, noting that the United States and Iraq are committed to building economic partnerships that will strengthen the bilateral relationship, as described in the Strategic Framework Agreement.
The Baghdad International Fair continues through November 10, 2012.
