Microsoft is shutting down MSN TV on Sept. 30, the company announced on its website and in an e-mail to users.
MSN TV began as WebTV in the 1990's as a pioneer service that offered internet service through a television set. WebTV was founded by Steve Perlman in 1996 and was?acquired by Microsoft for $425 million?in 1997.
MSN TV included an Internet Media Player, a wireless keyboard and remote, power supply, phone line T-splitter, 6? of video/audio?cable and 25? of phone cord.??
Microsoft's decision comes as little surprise as Apple is making a strong push at becoming a player in the interactive TV arena.
